John Green masterfully weaves the story of a young man named Henry who has multi drug resistant Tuberculosis with the history of the disease and with the current politics and big pharmaceutical company price manipulations that limit access to the healing medications.
This weaving kept me from getting to angry at the fact that over a million people a year die needlessly from a curable disease. It also kept me from crying as I heard Henry’s story. And it motivated me to join TBFighters to lobby pharmaceutical companies and Congress to help those suffering with this terrible disease.
John Green, as always, knows how to pull at your heart strings, give you the bleak reality, and leave you feeling–somehow–hopeful for the future.
Very highly recommended. The author reads the audio version and his delivery is soothing and captivating. 5 out of 5 stars.
